dear familia,
como fue su semana? mine was good. not too much happened... but there
were some highlights. FIRST......i learned the lesson that everything
happens for a reason! so that 20 yr old girl i was talking about, well
we havent been able to teach her again because she is never home. (that
happens more often than not here.) it is beyond frustrating, but once
again i see that heavenly father has a plan and knows whats best.
because she wasnt home, we were able to find romilda. i saw her and just
had a good feeling about her. we weren't able to teach her then, but
set up an appointment and gave her a folleto. we went on our way and
concentrated on other stuff for a week. so a week rolled around and we
went to teach her and guess what?? yup......she wasnt home.
disheartened, we walked back up the road to go to a back up plan. ( we
have 3-4 for every appointment) then out of no where pops this 9 year
old girl, she says hi, my parents read a folleto and want a book of
mormon....... for reals??? we can't get people to read the book of
mormon for the life of us! it turns out she is romildas daughter. her
mom is in the campo for a week, but her and her esposo want to learn
about the gospel. we gave her another folleto and a day later gave the
dad a book of mormon. he is a man who is desperately searching for
something in his life... and this is it!! :)
SECOND....i found an effective way of flushing toilet paper down the
toilet... i might potentially be ruining the paraguayan plumbing
system......but i'm too thrilled to worry about it. :) THIRD....we
cleaned the fridge! it's a magnificent sight to behold! FOURTH....the
bacas (cows) decided to spend the night out front of my apt... so that
was cool! i'm giving them all names since they're not very loved and
just wander the streets. haha :) FIFTH...... we hiked up a little
mountain hill thing to the only historical site here.. don't ask me what
it is cuz i have absolutely no idea. haha, but it has a lot of bronze
statues of men and looks cool, so yeah....we took all the children of
yukyty with us basically and me and hermana arguetta ended up carrying
their water and mate somehow..... the children sure give the word
´´amuck´´ meaning! :) but we love them a lot and so they tag along.
you'll see one of them is sweet sofia. SIXTH.......my horrendous
blisters have now turned into magnificent callouses......i could
probably now win the ´´most beautiful feet´´ contest against uncle
brett ;) along with the callouses, i now have a sweet tan line from the
strap of my shoe and socks. :) SEVENTH.....i have mastered the art of
holding my breath for 40 seconds while i vigourously chew, swallow, then
drink while eating salads here. you all know how much i love
tomatoes......well, the salads are tomatoes, wilting varieties of lovely
green weeds, and olive oil.....delicious i know! ;) but then i think of
tanner smashing cats in a bag against the wall in africa and gratitude
floods my soul! :) well, thats all thats really happened this
week...... i love and miss you all very muchy! always keep the faith!
love Hermana McDougal
