Dear Familia,
wow!! another week gone! i can't believe that last saturday i have been
in paraguay for a month! time really does fly! we had a really good
week, and a really sad one as well. so, we had to drop our
investigator... he was suppose to be baptized on the 15th.. but he won't
keep any of his commitments and just isn't progressing. it's seriously
heart breaking, like your heart literally hurts when this happens, but
we taught oscar again. he is awesome! we taught him the restoration and
the book of mormon. he is always so attentive and has so many good
questions. at the end, we asked if he would say the prayer. he started
and then lost it! when you see the spirit bring a man to tears and to
the point that he can't talk.. your heart just soars and you just thank
heavenly father! when you see the gospel literally changing lives, your
testimony just grows stronger and stronger. we called him 4 days later
to see how he was doing. we asked if he had read the book of mormon, he
said, "to be honest..." (these words are poison!!! i swear! everytime an
investigator says them, its followed by a big fat NO!! but this time
he said) " yes! I'm seriously grateful to you guys..." we seriously
almost did a touch down celebration dance!!!! haha :) si o si we're
going to see oscar baptized!!! then saturday,
we were walking around during siesta, trying to contact, (these are the
hours of death! first because its a million degrees, second, everyone
is inside sleeping and doesn't want to be bothered.) but we were walking
along and i had the thought, "call juan!"... juan... there's a million
juans!!! 5 juans in one house actually!! Lol! :) then i think oh...
juan lloret! we've only visited him once since i've been here because
he's always traveling for work. he was the one with the million
questions that we just told, "read" anyhow, we call him up and guess
what? he's read! he really likes it, but of course, has a million
questions. but wants us to visit him miraculously!!!! it's seriously a
miracle when people sincerely read. :) we were also finally able to
teach all of rumildas family, and her husband edgar has a baptismal date
for the 29th. we're hopeful! but its seriously like beating a dead
horse to get these people to come to church!! but through christ, all
things are possible!
so, we have a dog that follows us everywhere! i named him sparky. so we
have the dogs sparky, sabrina, and balto. and the cows, kk (knocked
knee) and calvin. remember ol calvin in wellsville, utah? remember how
he didn't have any teeth and couldnt keep his food in his mouth? well,
this cow is the exact same! hense, the name, Calvin! bless his heart ;)
it rained buckets on friday!
no joke! we had to go to zone correlation that morning, so we went out
into the down pour. the road was a literal river! it was up to our
knees!! when we arrived at the church, i had to ring out my skirt in the
bathroom. ive never been so grateful for my monsterous boots! they're
also really heavy to wear so my calves get a work out.. wearing them is a
win win situation! haha :)
i told hermana argueta that the street river was more of a river than
the gila valley river! ;) oh! and yesterday i met hermana keller. she is
seriously C.A. weech in 25 years! its crazy how alike they are!!! I
love it! makes me feel happy, like C.A. is here with me :) any how, i
love, love the mission! i'm so grateful for the gospel! remember that
one of the best demonstrations of love for your friends is to share the
gospel with them! the phrase,"sharing is caring," is SO true! i love you
all so much!!! thank you for your prayers and love! always keep the
faith!!
love, Hermana McDougal
