Letter # 7

dear familia,
como estan. so the question mark button doesn't work on this key board along with various other buttons so yeah... anyhow, this week was awesome for us! but if you looked at our numbers you wouldn't think so. our numbers tell the story of how every single appointment fell through, how no one wanted to hear the message, and how a lot of walking took place without anything happening. so yes, that did happen, and stunk and was hard.......but, then there's oscar!!!! so monday night we had it in our plans to teach him lesson 2. but, that just didn't feel right. so we studied it out the next morning and realized that he needed a lesson that  just focused on christ and the book of mormon. so we had our awesome lesson planned. so we begin our day and of course we are out of gas so it's potatoes in the microwave, that's not too horrible, then we walk outside and its pouring!!!! so like i said, every lesson was canceled, no one listened, and we were soaking wet!!! we walked through the muck and junk of yukyty for an hour and a half. almost lost one of my boots in the mud along the way. :/ and the whole time i kept thinking we need to call hermana vanessa and make sure she is still coming to the lesson with oscar. so i tell hermana arguetta and she says okay we will at like five thirty. so five thirty rolls around and i remind her about the call. so we make the call and of course she is in a whole different country....... literally!!!! Argentina!!! well hermana arguetta just loses it and can't stop crying, so we head to the church kneel down and i said the prayer and i told heavenly father that we needed a mujer and we know that no one can come, but we need help. so we get up and talk about who can possibly come. the bishops wife kept coming to mind, but we kept discussing and decided on a different hermana. we called and she couldn't. neither could the next 3 hermanas. so we called the bishops wife, and what do you know, she could come!!! we only had 15 min. to get to oscars so we ran to hermana sanabria and we head to oscars. we had the best lesson with him! afterwards hermana sanabria tells us how her day just  worked out perfectly and she was literally just done getting ready when we called and she was able leave immediately,  which never happens she said. so she was literally prepared the whole day by heavenly father. the spirit guided us the whole day and our prayers were answered. :) oscar came to church yesterday and loved it! he tells us every time how grateful he is for  us and the gospel. when he makes a commitment, he says it's his responsibility and he keeps it! his date for the 29th of nov is still on!!! we are  so so excited but have a lot of work to still do. he literally looks different now than the first time we saw him. the gospel changes people completely! always follow the smallest promptings of the spirit because the biggest blessings result! what if we hadn't turned back to talk to oscar that first time and kept walking. i see little and big miracles everyday out here!!! this experience of serving a mission is one i would never trade!!! there's  a man named juan who had a stroke 12 years ago and can't hardly speak and move his right arm and leg. he's such a sweet old man and absolutely loves me. he waves to me about a hundred times during the lesson to make sure we haven't forgotten him! this last time him and anjelica reminded me of grandma and grandpa smoot when grandpa says something and grandma kicks him or scolds him... hahaha :) it was the same, after we sang a hymn and he let us know what a ´´great´´ singer i was and how he loves listening to me sing... and anjelica kept stopping him and saying they both sing so well dont they.. you both sing so well... right juan.. BOTH of them!! hahaha :) he refused to agree. abuelos are the best here! well i love you and miss you all so much! always keep the faith!
always love,
Hermana McDougal
