Letter # 8

hola familia! so this week... this week lasted for forever and we dont know why.  probably because we had cambios. so since im in training, it's rare for us to recieve cambios right? exactly! but we both had a little fear of it happening. so, we go throughout the day, all is fine, then we're planning that night and who calls... the district leader!!! hermana argueta said... oh no... this is feo!! (bad) so, we answer it and are told we have cambios and that hermana argueta is leaving. we both start bawling because neither of us want this because we are super, super close and are suppose to have another six weeks together!!! so, we hang up and are feeling miserable, because we are suppose to get oscar baptized and a bunch of other people. then elder coombs calls back and he was LYING!!!! of course!!!  hermana arguetta was not a happy camper! i was just too relieved to be mad!! now whenever elders do something stupid or annoying or anything, we have a specific tone of voice set aside to say... ´´elderes!!´´ haha :) so yes, this week was another hard one.  oscar wasn't home at all because he got a new job. we were really worried about this.  we call him up on sunday and ask if he's coming to church and he was there waiting for us!!! he came in different clothes and everything! he's just awesome! me and hermana arguetta are just thrilled!! but his date for baptism has changed because we haven't been able to teach him the word of wisdom.. which is a problem.  but it's all good!! :)  we went to another lesson with anjelica and juan... the man with the stroke. cute guy right? no... no... I thought so..,... well, we started our lesson and he was acting especially strange. he wouldn't stop looking at me and wouldn't let go of my hand when we shook hands and it was just strange.....anyway, we start teaching and the spirit is just not there at all!! so we continue on and all of a sudden hermana arguetta wraps it up, asks to say a prayer, we stand, and she turns to me and tells me not to take his hand when we leave. so we say bye, he tries to shake my hand, but we just turn smiling and say bye and he wasn't happy at all. we speed walk away, and hermana arguetta tells me that after we started teaching she had a distinct impression, ´´leave here RIGHT NOW!!!!" it happened three times and thats when we got up and left. idk if anything would have happened, who knows, but when you get a prompting.. no matter how small.. or BIG, you follow it!!! scary!! so, this friday was burning hot!!  we leave the apartment and go teach a lesson, and bam!! it changes!!  crazy fast!! it starts raining and we don't have our umbrellas. so we hide out for a moment and end up having to just walk in the pouring rain and cross a flippin rio (street) and go back to our house to change and get umbrellas. so we do so, leave again, it's sort of drizzling. then... a hurricane hits!!! (not a literal one obviously) but it's the hardest i've ever seen it rain!!! within 30 seconds, our umbrellas don't work and we are completely soaked!!! like dripping, drowned cat soaked!! awesome big rain boots don't really work when the water level is above the tops of them. so, of course, no one will let us in their homes so that was super fun.... not.... i actually laughed a lot because i just couldn't believe it!! haha :) it ruined all our appointments... so we went to find an old investigator.  we find her, she lets us in, and we start talking. she's like 57ish and she is an accountant, but also in law school. she is learning english, but having a hard time because she has no one to talk to. so i tell her that i could help! she got really excited and set up a date immediately to learn. she even said i could teach her from the book of mormon!! now this lady wasn't seeing missionaries any more because she received an answer that, ¨i shouldn't be baptized. its not right." which we know is an answer impossible to receive from heavenly father.  but now she is all kinds of excited and we are going to teach her out of the books i learned out of which are all how to pray, how to testify of christ and the book of mormon. haha we think its pretty hilarious! :) then we had an open house at the church on saturday that was a really great experience and we received a lot of references which is awesome!!! well, not much else really happened.. sooo until next week! i love you all so much and miss you everyday, but am so happy to be here learning and serving :) always keep the faith! love, Hermana McDougal
